4 Tips to Creating a Stellar Bathroom Remodel

The bathroom is often one of the smallest rooms in your house; and, it’s also one of the toughest rooms to remodel. It’s challenging figuring out precisely how everything should be laid out for a bathroom remodeling project, but if you follow 4 tips below you’ll be on the right path!

  1. ADDRESS VENTILATION: this is the best first step in a bathroom remodeling project. Unwanted odors, or even mold, could start growing in your bathroom without proper venitlation. It’s imperative that you find an excellent window to help, and/or purchase a bathroom ventilation fan that has enough capacity (as in how many cubit feet of air per minute the fan can move) to help mitigate odors and mold. A bathroom vent fan is the best way to go, and can really extend the life of the bathroom remodeling project.

  2. ADDRESS SPACE: as previously stated, a bathroom is usually one of the smallest rooms in a home, and as such, it can often feel cramped. However, there are several options one could consider to create more space, or utilize the space more efficiently. Building niches into walls for common accessories such as the toilet paper holder is one option. Another option would be using hanging shelves and hooks to hang and place items upon so it doesn’t take up floor space, and helps eliminate the stuffy feeling built from cabinets.

  3. ADJUST THE ROOM SIZE WITH PAINT: a fantastic way to make a smaller bathroom look larger is by making sure that your color palette in the bathroom stays as light as possible. Using a dark paint color can make the room feel more claustrophobic and smaller. And always keep in mind that painting the ceiling anything other than an off-white/white can make it feel like the ceiling is shrinking down.

  4. PICK THE APPROPRIATE FLOORING: flooring is essential in a bathroom, and it’s one of the items that takes the most time to figure out. Should you go with a tile flooring, which could cost more money and take a little more time, or should you consider a waterproof plank option? Both options are great for different reasons. If you’re someone that wants to keep the floors clean, a plank is your best option. If you’re looking to create a little more elegance in your bathroom remodeling project, then a tile option is best.

A typical bathroom remodeling project could take anywhere between one to two weeks (depending on the complexity and material availability) with a contractor, sometimes even less time.
